Jon is a marketing director, working in the sports travel and hospitality industry.
However, in a previous life Jon was an actor, mainly appearing in commercials, corporate
videos and short films. It was whilst working as an actor that Jon met his now wife Lauren
(they both appeared in the same panto – oh yes they did) and it was Lauren who introduced
him to Lloyd as they’d both worked together on cruise ships.
Before their son Logan, Jon and Lauren welcomed their first ‘child’ into their lives when they
picked up an eight-week old Mr Fudge, their cockapoo, in May 2016. He changed
everything, and with parenting instincts activated they decided to try for a baby at the end of
2017. Fortunately for them, they didn’t have to wait for ‘everything to happen’ and Logan
Griffiths was welcomed into the world at 4:56pm on 3 October 2018.
However, with all plans of a water birth being thrown out the window due to Lauren having to
be induced, the start of parenthood didn’t go exactly to plan, and Logan spent his first night
on this planet in the neo natal unit of Frimley Park Hospital. It was the shock of the birth, and
the post-traumatic stress that followed, which made Jon want to share his experiences with
other men, and speaking to Lloyd they both realised they wanted to raise awareness about
what it’s like to become a dad, warts and all. From those conversations, the Poddy Training
Podcast was born.
He feels very lucky to be hosting Poddy Training with Lloyd, who he looks up to as a friend
as well as an incredible performer and dad.
Lloyd is a professional comedian billed as ‘The Comedy Wordsmith’. Dubbed by Gyles Brandreth as ‘A bit of a comedy genius’...Lloyd is now renowned for his wordplay and vocal wizardry wherever he performs. He has toured and performed all over the world with his act and is currently celebrating his 30th year in showbusiness.
For the past sixteen years Lloyd has performed on over 500 separate cruises, having worked regularly for the likes of P&O, Marella and Fred Olsen Cruise Lines to name but a few.
He is a regular face on the Warner Leisure Hotel chain around the UK. He has supported the likes of Sean Hughes, Paul Daniels as well as Jim Davidson on 13 separate UK tours. He has performed in 16 consecutive pantomimes working alongside the likes of Nigel Havers, Dr Ranj, Stephen Mulhern, Rita Simons, Samantha Womack, Toyah Willcox, Gareth Gates, Bonnie Langford, Sheila Furgeson and Shaun Williamson.
As a voice over artist he most recently recorded the voices of the male animals in the UK tour of the best-selling children's book Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell.
In 2011, Lloyd first set his eyes on his now wife Danielle across a bar at Littlecote House in Hungerford, where she was working, just before he was getting ready to go onstage. In 2016 they got married in Ramsbury, Wiltshire. Just under two years later at 3:08am on Friday 8th June 2018, Danielle gave birth to their daughter, Ottilie May Hollett .
Ottliie was born eight minutes after Lloyd and Danielle parked the car at QEQM Hospital in Margate. This was after months of them having prepared for a tranquil water birth in the MLU suite. Nothing went to plan that night!
On the 16th April 2016, Lloyd and Danielle’s bond and friendship with Jonathan and Lauren started at a wedding they were all invited to (Lloyd and Lauren had previously worked on cruise ships together). After the births of Ottilie and Logan, Lloyd and Jonathan have often chatted and compared experiences and emotions that they have gone through. Both realising that it's vitally important to talk about how one is feeling, especially as men often stay quiet, they decided to share their stories with the wider world and hopefully make other men and dads realise they are not alone.
Lloyd lives in Westgate-on-Sea with his wife Danielle, their Daughter Ottilie and their two adopted cats Arthur and Mogwai.
